Hello everyone,

Fifteen years ago my wife and I established K. International School Tokyo (KIST) with the goal of providing a high level international education to supporting children from many diversified backgrounds. I am the director of KIST and since last year I have taken on the role of Head of School. Our school was recognised as an educational institution by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government in 2000, we gained PYP authorization in 2002, MYP authorization in 2003 and DP authorization in 2004. Currently KIST is the only school in the Tokyo Metropolitan area authorized to offer all three IBO programmes.

Both our sons have studied through our school since PYP , our youngest son is completing his final year of DP and our eldest son is working hard at his tertiary studies. We are fortunate in that we can look at the IB programmes not only from the standpoint of the the school but also for the standpoint of parents and we are grateful to be able to see the IB from these two viewpoints. Also my wife is a committee member of the National Institute for Educational Policy Research, established by the Japanese Ministry of Education, focusing on the direction the future of the Japanese education system.

We are looking foward to learning more deeply about the IB MYP Programmes through the assistance of our interpreter.
